The 10th Congress of the European Pain Federation held in Copenhagen, Denmark on 6-9 september 2017 hosted the ceremony of the EFIC- IBSA Foundation Publication Award supporting investigators under 40 years of age who published the best original research articles in the European Journal of Pain in 2016. The Executive Board and the Research Committee of the European Pain Federation (EFIC) agreed to give the EFIC – IBSA Foundation Publication Awards 2016 to Kirsty Bannister, University College London, UK, for Basic Research with: “An investigation into the inhibitory function of serotonin in diffuse noxious inhibitory controls in the neuropathic rat” and Gijsbrecht A.J. van Velzen, Leiden University Medical Centre, The Netherlands, for Clinical Research with: “Is the brain of complex regional pain syndrome patients truly different?”. The two winners received a CHF 2,500 each.
