Seven years after the launch of the new Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at USI (Università della Svizzera italiana), IBSA Foundation continues to support research and education with commitment.
In 2017, IBSA Foundation chose to focus on the future, investing in the research and talent of future doctors by supporting their studies at USI.
At a ceremony on 7th October 2024, 52 scholarships were awarded to first-year and 63 to second-
year Master of Medicine students.
The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Giovanni Pedrazzini, welcomed the large audience of young students.
He explained the award criteria in detail and he also emphasised that the scholarships offered by the Foundation, worth 2,000 CHF each, represent not only a great opportunity for students, but also an important tool to attract talent from different countries, encouraging them to study medicine in Canton Ticino.
«Studying medicine means preparing to be the doctor and physicians of the future. Today's students represent the fundamentals on which tomorrow's medicine will be built. It is critical for IBSA Foundation to support these young talents, because in them lies the potential for a better future for the health of all.»
This was the reflection left for the students by IBSA Group President and CEO Arturo Licenziati, to emphasize the commitment to playing one's part, just like the Foundation, which is in the forefront of encouraging academic study by supporting university students.
Also attending the ceremony were USI Dean Luisa Lambertini, IBSA Foundation Director Silvia Misiti and IBSA Group Vice President Antonio Melli.
The event ended with a meeting and discussion with the students.
